Every now and then you cross paths with someone, seemingly by accident, and it leads to an indelible kinship. I love those moments. It reminds me that we are not in control of everything (thank goodness!) and that the universe is most often conspiring in our favor.
Such was the case when I met Tatum Bronte, the creator and writer behind Seeking Salt. At our first meeting Tatum shared with me her vision for her food documentary series: “to uncover the ‘salt of the earth:’ the humbling and alchemic relationship between food, people and our world.” An ambitious goal, and one that lit me right up. We quickly realized that we were soul sisters with a passion for food, wellness and storytelling.
Over the next few months, I invited Tatum into my life and work, with the goal of sharing my story and my core philosophy. She ultimately captured that and so much more. Tatum somehow took the jumbled pieces of my life and gracefully wove them together into a video that shares the my heart and soul. When she wrote this, I knew she got me:
“Trust your gut.
It’s Taji’s philosophy for life and food.
A mantra instead of an equation.
An approach that speaks to a more soulful need for nourishment.”
So. Much. YES.
